This time of year seems to remind me of crafts and hobbies. Perhaps it's the holiday fairs encouraging consumers to start thinking about decorating and gifts. Maybe it's because garden season is coming to a close which frees time for checking out the latest in decorating. What ever the reason....Marvel has something to offer your craft or hobbies appetite!!
Here we are in week 4, Let's check this out.
1.I'm checking into the Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center of Marvel, the categories are not quite what I'm looking for so I'm checking the " View All Topics" section, I'm going to take a look at Equestrian because my youngest daughter enjoys horses. Between everything offered there are several pages of materials including videos for basic care. I'm narrowing the results to Horsemanship to see if our library carries any of the materials offered here, I'm checking with the "advanced search" and adding the reading materials I'm specifically looking for that our library carries. We do not have any periodicals for Equestrian and what I'm checking is the non-fiction books. I'm not finding any that are not part of this data base, so here's more items for my daughter to investigate!
2. Using the Project tab I've found different items for downloading, one would be very helpful for beginners titled "ABC's for teaching tyke riders" Excellent steps for parents, which takes toddler from rocking horse to real horse. Another which caught my eye for my daughter was "Learn the Emergency Dismount". Not only did this have a clear step by step instruction but also pictures for a clearer understanding for younger ages.
3. In the upper right hand corner is the "help" guide and, interestingly enough there is a " EBSCO customer support representative" who can be reached every day from 9am -5pm EST. along with an email address. On the right side of the guide is a column which offers information for step by step help. Checking the "searching" guide each category to click on gives easy instructions for the home page and what each areas can offer when searching for an interest.
As Patrons wonder in our non-fiction area for an introduction or further ideas for whatever hobbies/crafts they are about to begin or continue, this online reference center makes my job easier to find quality information without having to purchase extra materials!!
